I used the Brushes app, which captures your brushstrokes as you paint. This is a really quick playback of me painting it!

May 21, 2010 marks the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, the second Star Wars film (and greatest film of all time). I’m doing one drawing a day throughout May, 2010!

StarWars.com has announced Tokyopop’s new Star Wars Manga.

The longest story in the collection is by Shin-Ichi Hiromoto. “Vader and Tao” takes place shortly after the Battle of Yavin, as Vader is determined to find the identity of the Rebel who destroyed the Death Star. We discover that the Dark Lord has been secretly fostering an apprentice of his own, the youngster named Tao.

An intrepid Jawa salvages some very valuable relics from the deserts of Tatooine, including an X-wing fighter and a TIE fighter, in a 24-page caper by Hitoshi Ariga.

In “The Son of Jar Jar Binks” by artist Formalin, a lithe Gungan infiltrator wreaks havoc against would-be Imperial captors led by Darth Vader.

The Fri Fri Company offers a series of very graphical Anakin illustrations as well as the text of “Letters to Anakin,” the young Podracer champion who has earned a fan following.

Nakatsuka pits the droid duo C-3PO and R2-D2 against Darth Vader; the golden droid learns the horrible truth of his parentage, while Artoo battles the Dark Lord in a lightsaber duel no one ever expected to see.

NAO chronicles the story of a trio of Jedi Younglings caught in the Clone Wars and their encounter with the heroic Anakin Skywalker.

Yasushi Nirasawa spins a tale of General Grievous, on his mission to the toxic world of Dica to hunt down Force-using prey.

Brian Ueda gets inside Vader’s deepest thoughts at the pivotal moment he turns against the Emperor in his retelling of the climax of Return of the Jedi.

These all sound awesome! Too bad it seems like they won’t hit the states!

Here’s a great interview (via MTV) of a dude that has done all sorts of awesome movie/toy related stuff…someone who does exactly what I would LOVE to be doing RIGHT NOW:

Best Job Ever: Sculptor Handles Depp’s Dreads, Chewbacca’s Fur

Check out the excerpt:
How He Got Here: Why does a guy like Brooke get such prime gigs?
Easy — he’s one of the best. The work-at-home dad lives in a rambling
Victorian near the University of Cincinnati campus, which is overrun by
his playfully ghoulish paintings, homemade puppets, handcrafted train
sets and kids’ art projects, got his start drawing as a kid, later
obsessing over the monsters in magazines like Cinefex.

After college, Brooke got work as a “doll-eye specialist” at
Kenner Toys working on Baby Alive, when he discovered his real passion.
“Pretty soon after that I started building models, and they bumped me
up to a full-time model maker, which is when I got into sculpting,”
said Brooke, who used to play bass in local bands Red Math and
Roundhead.

Awesome article – be sure to check it out!!!

Makes me want to go back into toy design SO BAD!!!
